CALL FOR PAPERS: 3rd Biennial SOTL in the South Conference


SOTL in the South is proud to announce that the 3rd biennial SOTL in the South conference will be taking place ONLINE in November 2021.

The conference theme is Beyond the Pandemic: Lessons for the future of SOTL in the global South.

Both theoretically- and empirically-oriented contributions are welcome.  Streams for participation may include (but are not limited to):

  • online teaching and learning
  • teaching and learning for racial, cognitive and social justice
  • indigenous knowledge systems and decolonization of teaching and learning
  • teaching and learning for environmental sustainability
  • teaching and learning innovation
  • teaching and learning in the disciplines
  • interdisciplinary teaching and learning
  • postgraduate teaching and learning

The conference will include opportunities to publish in a special issue of the SOTL in the South journal – which is DOAJ-listed and DHET-accredited.

Abstracts (of 250 to 500 words) can be submitted HERE by 2 May 2021.

We welcome proposals for workshops, panel discussions, performances and other innovative online formats.  Please send proposals for these to the conference e-mail address above.

SOTL in the South: Accreditation Status and Deadline Extension


SOTL in the South is proud to announce its recent inclusion in the DOAJ and Sherpa/Romeo directories.

Importantly, DHET now recognises DOAJ journals as accredited!


Considering this exciting recent news, we have extended our deadline for submission to our September 2021 Issue 5(2) to 8 March 2021.
